One way to improve the air quality of the home is through whole-house ventilation with a Panasonic WhisperLine fan which removes stale air and provides fresh air on a slow, continuous basis. The Panasonic FV-20NLF1 WhisperLine 240 CFM In-Line Fan has a totally enclosed condenser motor and a large, double suction blower wheel to quietly move air. The blower wheel is designed to draw air in from both sides allowing more area for the air to enter the wheel. Panasonic fans are quiet enough that you might not even know they're on. This fan is designed to give you continuous, trouble-free operation for many years due to its high-quality components and permanently lubricated motors which wear at a slower pace. We designed the electrical configuration of this model's condenser motor to allow it to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings. The fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust. This in-line fan fits a 6-Inch duct and can be installed in five different positions and joist, truss and suspension brackets are included to help make your installation as easy as possible. With a 1.4 sone level and rated 240 cubic feet per minute, this fan is Energy Star qualified. We have renovated several houses and have always installed Panasonic vent fans. They are among the quietest and most durable available (Fantech is also good). This is the first inline fan we have installed. We put it in the kitchen-- we don't need a fancy hood with fan over the stove, just a good exhaust fan to clear the occasional smoke or to cool the room. This fan moves lots of air (240 cfm), especially with the 6" duct we installed, but it is quieter than the 70 cfm ceiling fans we have put in previously.
I have been looking for years to find a replacement for the noisy cobbled exhaust fan the builder put in my attic to vent 3 bathrooms and the laundry room. Amazon is the last place I would consider to look for something like this. I only found it while I was looking for something else. I'd rather be lucky than smart.
This unit is quiet and easy to install. Their installation methods and hardware are very flexible. The 240 CFM size is adequate to exhaust four room outlets of 4" diameter each with major restrictors at the room outlets. I have the fan on a timer that runs 16 hours a day. The inlet of the fan unit is only a single 6" opening. You must construct your own inlet plenum for multiple inlet connections. A Y-connector or a T-connector works nicely.
